In this Photo: Rev. Alexander Smith and his mother Elder Juanita Smith. Yesterday my mother Elder Juanita Smith went home to her Heavenly Father. We have treasure my mother in her earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our bodies. For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond any comparison, because we look not to things that are seen, but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal--II Corinthians 4:7-12, 16-18.
